Focus on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Mrs. Duke might not have earned her 1st WSOP Bracelet until two thousand and four but she remains one of the most feared poker players at the cash matches at The Bellagio in vegas. Annie’s longawaited WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "buried game" of Omaha hi low.

While competitors from the "younger generation" of poker run wild after a big win at the tournament, Annie goes back home and becomes "mom" to her four children. She was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who educated her how to wager on the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has succeeded at her share of challenging tables, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions. They’re both competitors that have the ability to capture the big $$$$$ and do it with a smile.

Annie is a strong competitor at any poker table because she is a genuine poker player, but it’s a little more than just being great at the game. Annie Duke is extremely intelligent and graduated from Columbia University where she majored in Psychology and English.

When you sit across from her at the table you know Annie Duke is there to play the game and she starts "summing" you up from the time you sit down at the poker table. If you cannot play like a camp, then do not bother.

Acquiring over $3 million in tournament play, Mrs. Duke became a consultant to both the UltimateBet poker room and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to sharpen his talents and become a power at the poker table.

You may see her at the Bellagio, you will notice Annie on TV and you may even play against her in a web-based poker match, but don’t count on an easy win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you will not defeat her. Although, it’d be fun to mention you sat at the at the table with "The Duke".
