Caribbean Poker Codes and Hints

Poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. The games popularity, though, arcs back in reality a bit farther than its TV scores. Over the years numerous variations on the original poker game have been developed, including a few games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to twenty-one than old guard poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or other kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up before the croupier declares "No more wagers." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course all of the other players are given five cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the casino’s first card, you must either make a call wager or surrender. The call wager’s value is on same level to your beginning ante, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your wager goes immediately to the dealer. After the wager is the face off. If the bank does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, plus an amount equal to the ante. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The bank pays out chips even with your initial bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
