Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English ]

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
