NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he enjoyed betting on different card games when he was young. He discovered himself getting really competitive in these particular card games as he was competing against his father. After graduating from secondary school, Howard decided to place higher education on hold for a little while and headed to New York City to participate in some big-time chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s 1st two years were rough as he would play countless hours and lost most times. He earned some additional money by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he might improve his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to acquire more sleep and focus attention even more on poker.

The actual improvement in his abilities began when he began wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest players would often compete against one another. Howard had access into some of the foremost minds in chess. With their help, Howard would sharpen his logical thinking skills. Howard used these strategy concepts in the game of No-Limit texas hold’em.

Howard Lederer also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct choice. He told Annie to move out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP tournaments. Annie is one of the best women players the poker arena has ever seen. He headed to Sin City in 1993 and competed in cash games for the subsequent decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
