Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world might be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
