Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers anywhere in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world might be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
