Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world may be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
