No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
