Internet poker has become globally acclaimed recently, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variants on the earliest poker game have been created, including some games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to twenty-one than long-standing poker, in that the players wager against the bank rather than each other. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is no bluffing or different types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up prior to the croupier saying "No further wagers." At that instance, both you and the dealer and of course all of the other players attain five cards. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s first card, you must in turn make a call wager or surrender. The call wager’s value is on same level to your original bet, which means that the risks will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your bet goes immediately to the house. After the wager comes the face off. If the bank does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is given back, plus an amount in accordance with the initial wager. If the bank does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The house pony’s up money even with your original bet and controlled odds on your call wager. These odds are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- two to one for two pairs
- 3-1 for 3 of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- twenty to one for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
